Auckland Bakery Launch Cat Flavoured Dog Pies

Dog Pies

Mt Albert bakery, Muzza's Pies, has introduced a new addition to its lineup of pies, Cat Flavoured Dog Pies.

Muzza’s Pies, a beloved Mt Albert institution, is shaking up the menu with a playful new addition that’s got tails wagging, Cat Flavoured Dog Pies’.

Designed especially for four-legged foodies, these gourmet pies are crafted with a unique blend of rabbit and fish to mimic the tempting taste of a “forbidden treat” (don’t worry, no cats were harmed in the making).

Recognising how often customers sneak bites of their pies to their pups, Muzza’s has created a safe and delicious alternative just for dogs. And in true Muzza’s fashion, the fun doesn’t stop there. The new Dog Pies will be sold from an adorable, miniature dog-sized replica of the bakery, set up right outside the shop for an Instagram-worthy experience.

But these pies aren’t just about indulgence, they’re about impact.

Ten percent of every Dog Pie sale will be donated to Chained Dog Rehabilitation & Rehoming, a local shelter dedicated to canine welfare, ensuring that every treat also helps dogs in need find a better life.

Muzza’s Pies, now run by John Williams' son, John, continues its legacy of delicious innovation, offering fan favourites like Steak and Cheese, Mexicani, and Chicken and Apricot, alongside this quirky new canine-friendly addition.

“We’ve always been about bringing people together over great pies, and we’ve seen firsthand how much our customers love sharing a treat with their dogs,” said Williams.

“So we wanted to create something special just for them while also giving back to dogs in need. And let’s be honest, the idea of replicating cat flavours in a pie for dogs gave us a good laugh, we just had to do it.”

Chained Dog Rehabilitation & Rehoming is a New Zealand-based dog welfare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of neglected, abused, and abandoned dogs. Through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy, the group works to ensure every dog is treated with love, dignity, and respect.

Partnering with the SPCA, Auckland Council, and other rescue groups, Chained Dog Rehabilitation & Rehoming provides hands-on intervention, support for dog owners, and rehoming for dogs who can’t stay in their homes.

The organisation also tackles broader issues through community outreach, promoting responsible pet ownership and long-term change.

Chained Dog Rehabilitation & Rehoming is committed to making a difference—one dog, one family, and one community at a time.
