Rhu x Sofitel’s Seafood-Forward Menu

Parnell restaurant Rhu has partnered with La Marée, Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, for a degustation of New Zealand produce and local wines.

Rhu is a small, chef- and baker-led Auckland restaurant grounded in fine-dining technique but built around accessibility. Led by chef-owner Tushar Grover, the team has years of fine-dining experience and delivers food that is technically considered yet simply delicious, served in a relaxed, minimalist setting.

“For me, collaborations are always about learning from each other and having a bit of fun with food. Rhu and La Marée are two very different restaurants, but we care about the same thing – great produce and making it taste as good as possible,” said Grover.

“We’ve kept the menu quite simple in that sense: beautiful New Zealand produce, good technique and, most importantly, food people genuinely enjoy eating. I’m really looking forward to bringing the two restaurants together for one night.”

The seafood-forward menu moves from raw kingfish with apple and vanilla dashi, through octopus with saffron beurre blanc and snapper with citrus butter, to a Black Forest-inspired finale of dark chocolate crémeux and cherry.

This can be matched course by course with New Zealand wines from Marlborough, the Awatere Valley, Waiheke Island, Hawke’s Bay and Central Otago.

Bookings are essential for the eight-course degustation, which will take place on Saturday, the 26th of September 2026 at La Marée, Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour.
