AUSTRALIA | Hidden inside the historic Northern Club in Launceston, Bar Clarry is an intimate wine bar and restaurant founded by seasoned traveller, passionate food lover and hospitality entrepreneur Hannah Bradley.
Bradley created Bar Clarry as a place where exceptional food, carefully curated wines and genuine hospitality bring people together.
"I wanted Bar Clarry to be an escape. A place where people can relax into the groove of the music, gather around the table and create lasting memories over beautiful food and wine,” said Bradley.
"In a busy world, people are craving genuine connection again. That's what groove and gather is all about. I've always believed that not everyone can connect through language, but everyone can connect through food.”
Built around seasonal Tasmanian produce and influenced by the warmth and charm of European wine bars, the menu at Bar Clarry evolves throughout the year, featuring handmade pasta, pork dumplings, East Coast oysters, steak frites, and bold seasonal creations inspired by both local ingredients and international flavours.
Signature cocktails, thoughtfully selected wines, vinyl spinning on the turntables and warm, welcoming service create an atmosphere designed for long lunches, leisurely dinners and unforgettable evenings.
"Some of my favourite memories haven't involved speaking the same language as the people around me. They've involved sharing meals, tasting local wines and simply enjoying being together,” she added.
"Food has an incredible ability to bring people together in a way very few things can. It can generate so much emotion because particular foods and flavours evoke memories.”
Bradley's appreciation for food and hospitality began well before she entered the industry. Growing up, she lived in Papua New Guinea with her family before undertaking a student exchange in Japan and travelling extensively throughout Australia and overseas. Each destination introduced her to different cultures, traditions and dining experiences.
One of Bar Clarry's signature experiences is its increasingly popular Supper Club evenings, where exceptional food, wine, music and conversation come together in an intimate setting.
"When people aren't rushing, they start talking. They share stories, meet new people and create genuine connections. That's what great hospitality should do,” she said.
While food and wine are central to Bar Clarry, Bradley believes the greatest ingredient is making people feel welcome, and every element has been intentionally designed to encourage guests to slow down and reconnect, from vinyl spinning on the turntable to warm lighting and intimate spaces.
