Violinist Scoops Ice Cream Tasting Role

UAE | Australian concert violinist Annabelle Traves has been named the winner of a global search for an International Ice Cream Taster for Snoop Dogg’s ice cream brand, Dr. Bombay.

The Dubai-based musician was selected from more than 350,000 applicants for the three-month remote contract, which pays US$10,000 a month. Her role will involve helping Dr. Bombay explore new international markets, develop flavour concepts, and create a Deel-themed ice cream.

Applications opened on 28 August, with candidates invited to apply from anywhere in the world. Deel managed the recruitment, compliance, and payment arrangements across more than 130 countries.

“We said anyone, anywhere could apply, and fans of Dr. Bombay really rose to the occasion. It turns out Snoop’s perfect ice cream taster is a violinist from Brisbane,” said Alex Bouaziz, Co-Founder and CEO of Deel.

Bouaziz said the recruitment process demonstrated how quickly businesses could appoint international talent, with Traves signed and ready to begin just two days after accepting the position.

Dr. Maya Warren, ice cream scientist at Dr. Bombay, said the company wanted someone who shared its enthusiasm for exploring international flavours, traditions, and food experiences.

“We wanted someone who shares our curiosity and excitement for discovering the flavors, traditions and experiences that make ice cream special around the world. Annabelle brings that passion and fresh perspective, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to the Snoop and Dr. Bombay families,” said Warren.

Traves has an international career spanning classical and crossover music, with performances at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. She was first violinist with André Rieu’s Johann Strauss Orchestra during its 2022 to 2025 world tour and has performed at the Monaco Grand Prix.

“I’ve spent my life training my ear, so I’m hoping my palate holds up to the same standard! The way I see it, tasting carefully and giving honest feedback is a lot like performing: you listen, you respond, and you try your best to make it genuinely memorable,” said Traves.

Her appointment will see her exchange concert performances for ice cream tasting as Dr. Bombay considers new flavour development and international expansion.
