Applications for the 2023 Beef + Lamb Young Ambassador Chef title are now open.
Chefs who aspire to grow their profile within the industry and aged between 18 and 26 years are encouraged to apply and join the Beef + Lamb New Zealand Hall of Fame.
The Beef + Lamb Young Ambassador Chef will need to be able to showcase their passion for cooking with New Zealand beef and lamb, telling the paddock to plate story in an innovative and exciting way.
Applicants are invited to put their best beef and lamb dishes between now and the end of March 2023. Entries will be narrowed down to three finalists, who will be invited to Auckland for a live cook-off with the current Beef + Lamb Ambassador Chefs and MacLean Fraser, BJ Sebastian, Cameron Davies and Andrew May on the judging panel.
The winner will be crowned as the Beef + Lamb Young Ambassador Chef 2023 and will join the current ambassadors for mentoring, working alongside Beef + Lamb New Zealand to elevate their profile within the hospitality industry and boost their future career.

The organisation aims to inspire young chefs to get excited about their careers in the restaurant industry. Lisa Moloney, the Foodservice manager, said that Beef + Lamb New Zealand is committed to shining a spotlight on the emerging talent within foodservice.
The 2021 winner, Sam Heaven, who was crowned as the very first Beef + Lamb Young Ambassador chef, now works under Clare Smyth at Oncore in Sydney.
"Winning brought me new opportunities to work with the senior Ambassador Chefs such as Phil Clark. It helped me realise the path I wanted to be on and helped me pursue my dream of working with a Michelin-starred chef," commented Heaven.
"It also provided an opportunity to meet farmers and see first-hand how much care goes into creating the premium products that I would like to work with."
