Auckland’s hottest new zone, Orakei Bay Village, is definitely on the up – and with it comes Ampersand, bound to be a new favourite for Sunday morning catch-ups, mid-week date night of a morning caffeine stop.

The breakfast menu features a range of favourites (bircher, smashed avo, French toast) and a few uncommon delights like Colombian corn cake and breakfast ramen. The lunch and dinner menu covers the classics but with a twist, the burnt honey lamb featherblade with goats cheese and bunched baby spinach a particular standout.

For the early risers, Ampersand covers all your coffee needs, from standard brews to nitrogen coffee – word is they’ll soon be roasting their own beans. The space itself, designed by Ctrl Group, retains the soft pinks and greens from the site’s former life as a gin distillery.
