MIDDLETON

While Auckland has a number of established culinary zones, Queen Street has often been lacking in anything other than fast food. Middleton is changing that – a classy establishment on Auckland’s main street.

Middleton serves a selection of breakfast and lunch options between 7am and 3pm, including classics such as eggs on toast and blueberry pancakes to the more sophisticated options of miso salmon, a spiced lamb fry-up and a ‘game burger’ of venison and duck. The menu is focused on only the best New Zealand produce and, while adventurous, is never complicated, allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves.

After 3pm, the menu changes to a ‘small plates’ menu designed to pair with the drinks menu. Merguez sausage, beef carpaccio and cured kingfish are just a few of the delights on offer – if you feel spoiled for choice, try the chefs tasting menu instead!

Nestled in the historic BNZ Building at 125 Queen St, Middleton’s leather seats and big fireplace reflects the sophistication of the menu, and it is sure to be the first port of call for inner-city culinary treasure hunters.
