Australian QSR chain, Sushi Sushi, has announced a major expansion planned for the New Zealand Market across the next ten years.

Sushi Sushi has entered its first master franchise agreement with local franchising and development professional, Stanley Greene, who has announced the brand will open 35 new stores across the country over the next decade.

Sushi Sushi’s existing New Zealand store at Botany Town Centre will also be taken over by Greene as part of the major expansion.

Greene has joined the Sushi Sushi network following an extensive career of nearly 30 years with the Subway restaurant chain, where he specialised in franchising and business development and a specific focus on customer experience.

Greene said that he had been in search for a brand partners that could grow the brand in New Zealand, and shared his vision for the brand’s appeal to the New Zealand market.

“I’m currently looking for franchisee partners that display a deep understanding of their local market along with a proven track record in the restaurant or retail industry,” said Greene.

Since the chain launched in Australia in 1998, it has grown to be one of the leading choices among customers. It currently has a portfolio of over 150 stores across the country, with plans for more stores in its pipeline. Greene said he hoped the New Zealand market would reflect the popularity it has in across the Tasman.

“These formats have provided great success in Australia, delivering highly flexible solutions for franchisees to operate anything from 12m2 locations upwards,” he added.

Green also added that this will enable their team to match the store format to their franchise partners based on their experience and budget, as well as match the store format to opportunities in the market.

The Japanese QSR market has grown in New Zealand over recent decades, with brands such as St. Pierres and Bento Bowl taking the lead.
