Phoric

Phoric’s mission was to develop a clean, natural alternative to the additive and preservative-filled energy drinks people are hooked on to help them through their busy lifestyles. Phoric is a new kind of energy drink, using the power of organic Guayusa leaves and natural ingredients to give you your daily energy boost.

What is your company background, how did you start the business?

Whilst at university, Holly and Brad found themselves and their friends needing an extra energy boost to get through the demands of study and work. Not satisfied with the options on the market, the duo worked to create a clean, natural alternative, that gives the energy boost without the artificial ingredients and refined sugars, as well as having a social impact.

What is the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?

Phoric has 3 natural energy drink flavours:

  • Original (Apple & Lemon)
  • Ginger Turmeric
  • Elderflower Lime

These drinks offer a refreshing boost, utilising the power of the Guayusa leaf (pronounced gwy-yoo-sah) an organic, fair trade and sustainably farmed ingredient from the Amazon. This super leaf contains organic caffeine and antioxidants. All of our drinks are bottled in Tauranga and 5c from every bottle sold goes towards Supporting Families NZ, a charity doing incredible work in the mental health space.

What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?

We are currently located in the Upper North Island and have recently launched into the South Island. We are keen to share Phoric with Kiwis nationwide as soon as possible!

Where are your products currently available to buy, and are you looking at or wanting to expand your availability?

We are available at select New World, Fresh Choice, Four Square and On The Spot stores, as well as a variety of cafes and convenience stores (approximately 130 stores nationwide). We are primarily available in the supermarket space, but believe there is a great alignment with cafes, convenience stores and bars as well. We are keen to share our drinks and the Phoric message of physical and mental wellbeing with New Zealanders wherever their 'local' might be.
