Located along Auckland’s iconic Ponsonby Road, Longroom is one of the most popular hotspots for all-day dining and nightlife, events and excellent cuisine.
As part of this year’s Ponsonburger festival, Longroom has introduced the Flaming Fondue Burger, a recreation of its famous Smash Burger smothered in flaming fondue cheese.
Richard Bagnall, co-owner of Longroom, said burgers are a much-loved part of the menu. The inspiration behind the Flaming Fondue Burger was the desire to elevate an existing offering. Having done research into what customers wanted, Bagnall said table theatre was ultimately the best way to sell Longroom through the burger to new and existing customers.
He said the Flaming Fondue Burger was an extension of the current menu. Longroom has crafted a specifically designed menu that showcases both excellent food and beverage options. Bagnall highlighted notable features on the menu, including Crispy Pork Belly, Handmade Dumplings, and fan favourites like Tommahawke Steaks, which can be perfectly washed down with a selection from the wine menu.
The menu often changes at Longroom, which Bagnall said was to keep up with customer trends and showcase seasonal flavour. Longroom works with its supply partners to create something new and exciting for customers to experience.
The new Winter menu has a focus on shared plates, comprising a range of various culinary creations, such as seafood, wagyu beef, and spring rolls. One new product in particular Bagnall said was inspired by something he saw while in Japan. He described it as a succulent blend of brisket covered with potato, and proved very popular with the team during the tasting stage.
Longroom has been a staple of Ponsonby Road for 16 years, and has a strong brand appeal to its diverse and loyal customer base. Bragnell said that the biggest appeal to the everyday customers was table service, engaging experiences, and multi-dimensional offerings.
Listening to customers was also something he believed in. Catering to customer preferences is the best way Longroom can personalise menu offerings to best suit customer demands. He said requests are always checked with the kitchen, in order to ensure the best experience and service as possible.
The versatile location has made it possible for Longroom to become a leader in hosting tailored events. Various locations within the complex include the Short Room, complete with its own bar and balcony, Sundeck, offering sun-protected alfresco dining, and the Back Restaurant, a secluded area for private dining. Bagnall added that private parties and functions were an excellent opportunity for Longroom to showcase its culinary ability and create customised menu offerings.
Bagnall said Longroom was proud to be part of the local community, and has enjoyed forming partnerships with local retailers.
