High Acclaim for Chef Axel Torres

USA | Chef Axel Torres has added to his illustrious acclaim, having been honoured by the American Culinary Federation.

Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta has announced a significant professional milestone for Executive Chef Axel Torres, who has earned the Certified Executive Chef (CEC) designation from the American Culinary Federation (ACF), one of the highest and most rigorous certifications awarded to culinary leaders in the United States.

Recognised as a gold standard in professional chef credentialing, the CEC designation is achieved by only a small percentage of working chefs nationwide. Often compared in scope and difficulty to a bar exam for chefs, the certification requires years of executive-level leadership experience, verified education, and successful completion of an extensive written examination paired with an intensive, full-day practical exam judged by Certified Master and Executive Chefs.

The certification process evaluates advanced culinary theory, sanitation, and food safety, nutrition, cost control, beverage management, and leadership, alongside hands-on execution of classical and modern techniques under pressure. Preparation often spans months or years, and overall pass rates remain notably low.

"Earning the Certified Executive Chef designation is an extraordinary accomplishment for Chef Axel and a reflection of the passion, discipline, and leadership he brings to the hotel every day,” said Nancy Chacon, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta.

“His dedication inspires our culinary team and reinforces our commitment to delivering thoughtful, personalised experiences. We are honoured to recognise Chef Axel’s continued leadership at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta.”

Chef Torres’ achievement reflects not only personal dedication but also the depth and excellence of the culinary program at Four Seasons Atlanta. His leadership has been shaped by experience at AAA Five Diamond and Forbes-rated resorts and hotels, including extensive tenures within the Ritz-Carlton and Park Hyatt brands, as well as formative work alongside globally recognised chefs such as José Andrés and Wolfgang Puck. Chef Torres also holds a specialised certification in sustainability from the MAD Academy in Copenhagen under René Redzepi of Noma. He is a committed advocate for responsible sourcing and local partnerships and is deeply invested in mentoring and developing the next generation of culinary talent.

“The Certified Executive Chef designation goes beyond a credential, it reflects a commitment to discipline, leadership, and responsibility to our craft,” said Executive Chef Axel Torres.

“The CEC challenges chefs on technique, as well as how we lead teams, manage resources, and think critically about the impact of what we do every day.”
