Cinnabon will officially open on New Zealand's shores, with its debut cafe set for Westfield Newmarket later this year.

Global quick-service cafe chain Cinnabon has announced it will officially open its first store in New Zealand.

Set to welcome customers at Westfield 277 in Newmarket, Auckland, the opening has been part of a wider expansion to the area, including parts of south-east Asia and Western Australia.

A spokesperson for the brand said that it was thrilling to introduce Cinnabon to New Zealand, as it has been incredibly successful in international markets.

Steven Yang, Senior Vice President of GoTo Foods International said that New Zealand was such a promising market for Cinnabon, and it was an amazing opportunity to create even more memorable experiences for new and returning customers.

“Our portfolio of brands offers more than just a business opportunity; it’s a chance to become a part of the daily routines and lifestyles of this community,” said Yang.

Westfield 277 was selected as the debut location due to its prime positioning, busty foot traffic and close proximity to businesses, shopping and public transport hubs.

The menu will include a range of classic Cinnabon favourites, such as the Classic Roll, Caramel PecanBon, and the ChocoBon. The MiniBon rangewill also offer a more petite sized treat, as well as coffee and the globally-popular Chillatta.

Cinnabon New Zealand were confident that it was the right time to invest in the New Zealand market, and position the brand for growth, as the economic outlook improves.

Cinnabon is just the latest in a long list of international brands to expand into New Zealand in recent years, including supermarket chain Costco, Swedish furniture chain IKEA, and recently, chocolate company Lindt.

The launch will be the 54th country that Cinnabon has expanded to, and will rise their cafe count to nearly 2000 internationally. Cinnabon has a pipeline to open up to 10 to 15 stores across New Zealand, with the potential for more depending on demand.
