COURSES THAT TAKE THE CAKE

The International Culinary Studio, New Zealand’s leading online culinary school, is offering Kiwis a chance to give the gift of cooking this Christmas.

For anyone that loves cooking, these courses are a must. For between $199 and $299, a range of nine courses will cater to any specific skill one may want to learn or develop.

A few of the most popular courses include:

  • Knife Skills.

The knife skills course teaches basic knife skills, including the safe use of handling a knife, as well as the correct way to select a knife depending on the task at hand.

  • Cake Baking and Decorating.

This course is a must for anyone looking to elevate their baking skills to the next level. This course will cover baking methods, yields and ratios, baking faults, as well as how to create a healthy cake, along with a range of specific cake types.

  • Art of Chocolate Confectionary.

This course will equip people with the tools they need to create their own signature chocolate. People who undergo this course will be able to make a chocolate glaze, a chocolate ganache, praline paste, chocolate moulds – praline filled, hand-dipped chocolates – marzipan filled, and chocolate flowers.

  • Special Diets.

This course is designed to help people learn to accommodate special diets. This course covers adjusting recipes and understanding the correct ingredients for a range of free-from or alternative diets.

All of these courses can be taken from the comfort of one’s home and is taught via the International Culinary Studio’s sophisticated Learner Management System.

“If you’re shopping for someone that loves food and cooking then an online culinary course really is one of the most thoughtful gifts you could buy,” said Andy Cordier, International Culinary Studio executive group chef. “It’s a bit different to the usual Christmas present, and is something that they can enjoy even after the holidays are over.”
