WOMAN GETS PAID TO EAT

An elderly woman has taken advantage of her local restaurant’s birthday special, to the point where the establishment now has to pay her to eat there. Helen Self, aged 109, lives in Missoula, Montana, and eats her birthday dinner every year at the Montana Club, a steakhouse-casino.

The Montana Club offers birthday discounts that correspond with the age that the person is turning – if a diner turns 30, they get 30 percent off, turning 40 will net you 40 percent off, and so on.

“Once she turned 101 she informed me that I had to come in and pay her for her meal,” said Montana Club owner Nick Alonzo.

At age 109, Self now gets a 9 percent cash rebate – approximately US$1.25 for her most recent shrimp dinner.
