Police officers in the UK have gone outside their usual sphere of public service with the creation of the McAffogato. With a simple tweet, two officers in Workington have potentially changed McDonald’s menus forever: “McDonald’s vanilla milkshake, double espresso…thank us later,” it read, accompanied by a photograph.

After the invention – a double espresso dumped into a vanilla milkshake – went viral thanks to a share on the Twitter account @UKCopHumour, many of McDonald’s UK’s branches offered to give a McAffogato to any visiting police officers for free.
When asked for comment, McDonald’s New Zealand didn’t know of the McAffogato’s existence. Given the rapidly-spreading popularity of the sweet energy booster, it may be only a matter of time before that changes.
