TOP RESTAURANT CLOSES WITHOUT WARNING

Pier 24, the award winning restaurant attached to Hotel St Clair in Dunedin, closed quickly and unexpectedly earlier this week.

"Pier 24 will be temporarily closed until further notice," a sign posted in the door reads. "We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused."

However, staff at the hotel have confirmed that the restaurant has been permanently closed. A staff member in reception claimed that the restaurant was “not doing well.”

Pier 24 came under fire earlier this year for claiming that the pork on its menu was free-range Havoc pork, despite the supplier claiming it had no relationship with the restaurant. Pier 24 later apologised via social media saying that it had now "put processes in place to ensure this does not happen again".
