It's been a couple of days since Auckland moved to level 3. The masses flocked to get their favourite french fries, burgers and fried chicken. However, once the novelty has worn off, many will want something a little special. These are five of Auckland's top restaurants offering meals during level 3.
Sid at The French Cafe
Sid Sahrawat and the chefs at The French Cafe have designed three heat and eat meal kits available for pre-order online. The meals are available from Thursday to Sunday and serve two, with orders cut off at midday the day before pick up.
One option includes the chef's signature meal kit with an entree of tuna, scallop, kohlrabi and watercress, a main of duck with kumara puree, masterstock and bok choy, salad greens and house-made bread and butter on the side, with a chocolate, raspberry and hazelnut dessert. Vegetarian and pescatarian options are also available.
East Auckland restaurant Ampersand is offering most of what was missed during level 4, including coffee. During the day, goodies such as cheese scones, blueberry muffins, gourmet sandwiches and truffle fries will be available for pick up.
Everything from red wine and port glazed beef cheeks with smoke potato puree to free-range chicken burgers is available. For dessert, Ampersand is offering its signature sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel and whipped cream.
Best known for its specialty degustation menu, the Grove is offering take-away. The offering is a three-course meal designed for two, with customisable entree, main and dessert. However, both serves will be the same dish.
Choices include chicken, bacon and leek terrine for starters, beef cheek Wellington for mains and banoffee pie for dessert. Several other dishes are available, including vegetarian options.
Peter Gordon's new restaurant, Homeland, is joining the level 3 bandwagon. Whilst the cooking school will not be open, many of its menu items are on offer for contactless pick-up, including coffee.
The meals will be pre-made and ready to heat up at home. It will be open from 10 am-6 pm, so brunch, lunch, dinner, or just a bakery treat is available all day. Boxes of cheese scones or pulled beef lasagne are popular, or the slow-cooked lamb shoulder comes in half or whole.
Ebisu is offering a restricted menu with some of its favourite dishes. The selection includes: fresh sashimi and sushi, new omakase meals designed for four to six people, dishes ready to eat or to finish at home.
Ebisu is also offering bottled cocktails, including yuzu margaritas, yuhi negronis and lychee Sake-tinis.
