THE STAR IS BACK

Simon Martin

Manchester has been awarded its first Michelin star in 40 years, welcoming back official recognition of the city’s diverse dining scene. The star has been obtained by ex-Noma chef, Simon Martin, whose restaurant Mana opened in October of last year.

The flavours coming out of Martin’s kitchen clearly stem from his time at Noma, according to the review of the restaurant.

The city has long been concerned with the lack of Michelin stars, considering its bustling tourism industry. Many critics around the city believe that it is a ‘crime’ that Manchester has gone without a star for this long.

Along with the announcement of Mana’s Michelin star, The Lecture Room, in London, was named as the UK’s only three-starred venue.
