PLEDGE TO SLASH EMISSIONS

Ikea has joined a growing list of universities and organisations that have pledged to slash food-related greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2030. This week’s United Nations Climate Action Summit has seen several companies committing to the global goal of limiting global warming to 1.5° Celsius, something that has been overseen by the World Resources Institute. This initiative has seen companies committing to the Cool Food Pledge.

Ikea, among other food-related companies, has been encouraged to implement simple initiatives throughout their workforce, like offering more plant-based options, refining menu offerings, and encouraging climate change-related conversations with consumers and amongst colleagues.

Ikea’s pledge to join the Cool Food Pledge was something they wanted to do to hold itself to ambitions of becoming climate positive by 2030.
