PAYMENT PROCESSING

McDonald’s has said it would begin processing the payments owed to staff that were incorrectly paid holiday pay over the last ten years.

In an audit conducted by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Enterprise in 2016, McDonald’s, along with a string of other major companies were found to be noncompliant with the Holidays Act 2003.

The estimated number of staff that are owed money sits around 40,000 and the total amount of money owed is estimated between NZ$45 and $90 million.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said that the company had spent tens of thousands of hours calculating who is owed what.

Once the calculations have been finalised, McDonald’s said that they would advertise where employees can go to collect their payment.
