Headquarters Bar Announces Official Closing

Going out with a “two day soiree” in May, Auckland waterfront bar and restaurant Headquarters will officially close for good.

Controversial businessman, Leo Molloy, who owns the inner-city establishment, posted a video to Facebook announcing the bar will close on May 21, the day before he officially enters the running for Auckland mayor.

Molloy said the venue was under lease arrangement through Viaduct Harbour Holdings and that lease was up for renewal in May.

His official entrance into the 2022 mayoral race will be combined with a wind up party of the bar, a two day “soirée”, which will include a “rally, a bold announcement, a rousing speech”.

Molloy opened Headquarters on Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour in 2017 and announced his plans to run for Auckland Mayor in July, 2021.
