GIWC Top 20 | Finca Fella Altado Verdejo 2020

The Finca Fella Altado Verdejo 2020 is a GIWC top 20 wine winner from one of the msot reputable wine regions in Spain - Castilla-La Mancha.

The Finca Fella project originates in the unique territory of Alpera which is only a few kilometres away from Albacete. The area is home to bush vines that are over 100 years old and grow on the plateau 9020 metres above sea level. With a continental climate that results in short, hot and dry summers and rapid temperature drops in autumn, the area favours aromatic and elegant wine structures.

The Verdejo grapes are harvested before dawn to preserve the berries from oxidation. Then they are fermented at 10 degrees Celsius in stainless steel tanks. Both processes ensure aromatic complexity.

The tasting notes for the bottle are its pale yellow colour with green sparkles. It is fresh on the nose. On the palate, it is round and long with notes of white fruits. The wine has incredible depth and richness for a dry white.

The wine is best enjoyed prior to being on the shelf for six months, however, it will improve in the bottle after at least one year if cellared. The pairing recommendation for the bottle is rice, seafood and light cheese dishes.

Wine drinkers looking for something new and exciting beyond the standard New Zealand two or three white grape types will enjoy the Finca Fella Altado Verdejo 2020. It is clean, bright and powerful.
