Booking.com has revealed that Christchurch is among the world’s Top 10 Trending Destinations for 2027, putting the Garden City on the global travel map.
Christchurch ranks among the world's top trending destinations for 2027, alongside other hits such as Monterey in California, Sendai in Japan and Pescara in Italy.
Today, the Ōtākaro Avon River winds through the centre, with riverside paths, gardens, and regenerated parkland making it easy to explore on foot or by bike.
Hagley Park's vast green expanse hosts cricket in summer, while the Christchurch Botanic Gardens showcase an impressive plant collection across beautifully landscaped grounds.
More than just a stadium, the opening of the One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha this year restores a long-missed gathering place for locals while positioning the city as a major events and entertainment destination for visitors.
As the gateway to the South Island, Christchurch is also primed for international arrivals through New Zealand's second-largest international airport.
Ali Adams, Chief Executive for ChristchurchNZ, said Christchurch is far more than a gateway to the South Island, and he was delighted international visitors have discovered that for themselves.
