TALA chef Henry Onesemo was a special guest at Australia’s first MICHELIN ceremony, held in Adelaide.
Onesemo was one of two international chefs from MICHELIN-starred restaurants invited to cook at the prestigious event, bringing Samoa to South Australia for an incredible evening that revealed the inaugural MICHELIN Guide South Australia.
He appeared alongside chef Alvin Leung from Hong Kong’s Two MICHELIN Star restaurant Bo Innovation. They were joined by South Australia’s Alanna Sapwell of Esmay (One MICHELIN Star), Dan Moss of Skillogalee Barrel House (One MICHELIN Star), and Duncan Welgemoed of Africola (Bib Gourmand).
An invitation to be an ‘International Cooking Chef’ at a MICHELIN ceremony is a significant honour, and Onesemo’s role at the South Australian event followed on from him being part of the ‘Cooking Chef’ selection at New Zealand’s own MICHELIN ceremony in June, where TALA received One MICHELIN Star and Henry and his team created dishes for guests to enjoy.
Onesemo said it was wonderful to be part of such a momentous night for South Australia’s hospitality industry.
“I know just how special it is for a restaurant to be recognised by MICHELIN, and we’re thrilled for all those awarded last night,” said Onesemo.
“It was also really nice to be here knowing that we didn’t have to worry about whether our name would be called out.”
