A Helping Hand for Hospitality

With another lockdown well underway, New Zealand’s hospitality industry has received another hard blow. With food spoiling, rent to pay and no way to remain open, Level 4 is a tough taskmaster for café and restaurant owners.

But amidst the doom and gloom, there’s one thing you can count on Kiwis for, and that’s a little ingenuity. Local specialty coffee roasters, Kōkako, have done some quick thinking in an effort to help their wholesale customers weather the Delta storm.

Hospo at Home is a downloadable e-book, consisting of 55 signature recipes from various Kōkako stockists. Until these cafés and restaurants can resume their full service, customers at home can try their hand at creating some of their favourite dishes.

The e-book has an impressive line-up of contributors including Flour Mill, Dedwood Deli, Vaniyé Patisserie and top Auckland restaurants, Cotto, Cibo and Ada.

The beautifully designed e-book features illustrations by Parkby Projects and is now available to purchase from the Kōkako website. 90% of the profits will be split between the contributors, with the rest going to Everybody Eats, who are tackling food waste and poverty in NZ.

Starting at $10, customers can choose to pay what they think the e-book is worth—or throw in a bit extra to support their favourite cafés and restaurants.

Customers can also choose to support cafés and restaurants by purchasing coffee from the Support Your Local section on the Kōkako website, with 25% of the sale going back to the selected outpost.
