World famous baker, Jordan Rondel, has been criticised for the wedding cake she provided an unhappy bride-to-be. Rondel runs The Caker, a bakery based on Karangahape Road, and has published several baking books; she has also featured in multiple magazines.
Rondel took to Facebook to share a picture of the cake in question, along with a screenshot of the email from the customer. Among other things, one passage of the email read, “This is the ugliest cake I’ve seen. I want a full refund.”
In reply, Rondel said, “I personally loved the look of this cake, which we felt fitted what the customer asked for. Ultimately we would never send out something we weren’t happy with.”
The issue of the cake has divided followers. Some believe that the aesthetic of the cake is what Rondel is famous for and have praised her creativity. Others think that the cake is not fit for a wedding. In the end, Rondel refunded the customer for the cake.
