TOKYO CHAIN LAUNCHES SOLO DINING BOOTHS

Gusto has launched its remodelled restaurants in Tokyo, some of which now offer one-person dining booths to cater to increasing numbers of solo diners.

The single-person semi-private dining boxes are designed with a small shelf to accommodate cutlery, condiments, drinks, and menus, whilst providing a dining space large enough to include a laptop or tablet alongside the customer's meal.

Each booth comes with a power outlet, a coat hook, and free Wi-Fi. Though they look cramped, early reviews have been positive.

"It was so perfect for studying and computer work that we immediately wanted to make one of these for ourselves at home," wrote SoraNews24's Oona McGee in Japan Today. "But then we remembered the one thing we wouldn’t be able to replicate at home: meals delivered to our table."

Gusto offers reasonably priced meals for casual diners. The solo booths can be found at their Tokyo branches in Akasaka Mitsuke, Azabujuban, Hatagaya, Higashi Ikebukuro, Kameari Station North Exit, Kichijoji, Medai-mae, Mito Keio Daigaku-mae, and Shinbashi.
