THE BOWLS ARE BACK IN TOWN

Food delivery service UberEats has released its predicted top 10 food trends for 2018, and there are few surprises. Bowls top the list, with avocado, coconut, toast and tofu rounding out the top five.

Emma Foley, NZ Lead for Uber Eats said that the rise of the poke bowl in 2017 is going to continue into this year, signalling a demand for a "tasty and quick yet nutritious meal option".

While bowls are popular during the summer months, housing smoothies and salads, UberEats predicts a larger offering of warm food bowls in winter.

The presence of toast at number four may mean that “gluten is back in fashion”. Toast bars are becoming increasingly popular, with new openings such as CaliPress offering a range of toppings on wholesome bread.
