FAMILY RAFFLES OFF CAFÉ

A pair of business owners in Victoria have decided to travel the country, and are raffling off their café in order to fund their trip.

Laura and Matt McNamara, who own Island Whole Food Café on Phillip Island, are selling Raw Golden Chocolate Bars on their website, which can then be brought in store and redeemed for one entry into the raffle. The couple followed the example of a café in Panama, where a raffle allowed not only for the seller to get a fair price, but also to allow people the chance to buy a café who would not normally have the money. The prize is worth $187,439 and includes the business, $10,000 cash, $4,000 of stock, rent and other fees paid until March 2019 and business assets valued at around $100,000.

“I wanted to share my love and knowledge on the amazing health benefits of wholesome plant-based foods with the local community,” said Laura. “I had never run a cafe before and quickly learnt on the go training my husband, who as well had no experience in hospitality.”

Entrants have to be over 18 years of age, and the winner will be drawn on October 17.
