Banana Split

It’s difficult to find someone who doesn’t like ice cream; with so many flavours and styles, it’s hard to say no.

On International Banana Spit Day, it’s the perfect time to offer a traditional dessert that has been loved by generations. Although bananas may not be everyone’s cup of tea, they remain the second most consumed fruit in the world, with over 115 million metric tonnes eaten every year. Bananas are full of vitamin C, contain manganese, and are a great source of potassium.

The banana Split was first invented in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, in 1904. Since its invention, the popular sweet treat has seen a wave of popularity, most notably during the diner craze of the 1950s.

Traditionally, a banana split contains three scoops of ice cream, one chocolate, one strawberry, and one vanilla. Take the opportunity to showcase in-house ice cream flavours, be it salted caramel, mixed berry, or even gelato.

Finish it off with a signature dessert sauce or coulee already on hand, and be creative with garnishing options, whether it's chopped nuts, grated chocolate, or even crushed biscuits.
