Sidart unveils new menu

Popular Ponsonby restaurant Sidart has launched a new Friday lunch menu. What was previously a set five-course tasting menu has changed to cater to smaller and larger appetites, with four, five and six-course options now available.

Chef Sid Sahrawat has recently returned from three weeks in India, and inspired by his travels has added new dishes to the popular Progressive Indian menu.

The new dishes have been influenced by chef Sahrawat’s time in New Delhi, Mumbai and home town Chandigarh and showcase Indian cuisine in an elevated and precise degustation format that marries India’s cuisine, spices and flavours with the best of New Zealand produce.

Sahrawat said it was great to be reminded of regional cuisines and forgotten traditional flavours.

“I stumbled across intriguing ingredients that are actually grown in India like morel mushrooms and sea buckthorn. I am excited to work with some new influences and translate them on to the plate – watch this space."

A four-course tasting menu is available for $60 per person, five courses $75 and six courses $90. The canapés are optional at an additional $30 for four canapés per person.
