SHRIMP FOR VEGANS

Tyson Foods has invested in New Wave Foods, a company making plant-based shrimp. San Francisco-based New Wave Foods launched in 2015, and hope to launch their free-from offering to the foodservice market next year.

New Wave Foods makes its ‘shrimp’ out of seaweed and soy protein. The seaweed is sustainably sourced and contains no allergens or cholesterol. The product is also lower in both calories and salt than real shrimp.

This investment comes as no surprise following the release of Tyson Foods’ own recently launched plant-based range of nuggets made from pea protein.
