@thrillist

Sake is experiencing a renaissance in the culinary world, and the humble cucumber is also coming to the fore as a refreshing addition to any situation. This Sake-tini combines cucumber ice cubes with the traditional Japanese spirit and also the classic martini base – vodka.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1½ ounces sake
  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 1 cucumber
  • Cucumber slices, to garnish

DIRECTIONS:

  • To make the cucumber ice cubes, take the cucumber and chop it up. Place it in a food processor or blender, and blitz well. Use a fine mesh strainer to extract the pulp, and pour the juice into an ice cube tray or desired mould. Freeze overnight.
  • To make the cocktail, combine the sake and vodka in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until well-chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass or coupe. Add a cucumber ice cube and garnish with a cucumber slice. Serve.
