Resilient Brothers Beer Reflect on Challenging Times

Brothers Beer, the iconic craft beer brewery with vibrant establishments in Mount Eden and Piha, has emerged resilient after facing the challenging currents of financial adversity.  It has proudly declared its dedication to eradicating all outstanding debts by the conclusion of 2024, marking the dawn of a new era characterised by growth and resilience.

The year 2023 presented Brothers Beer with economic trials that prompted a management restructure, with the appointment of Frans Bos as General Manager.

Despite whispers of uncertainty, Brothers Beer weathered storms, and with the support of its shareholders injecting a substantial amount of funds back into the business, it has continued to move forward. This strategic move, coupled with streamlining operations through the voluntary administrator PWC, ensured that the brewery never ceased operations.

This move was not without its share of complexities. Brothers Beer Holdings Ltd divested from five of its seven Brothers Beer & Juke Joint sites, and navigated the difficult decision to part ways with City Works Depot, Onehunga, Orakei, Birkenhead, and Commercial Bay.

"There's confusion about our status. Some presume we've concluded, but that's far from reality – we're still here and not about to go anywhere," said new general manager, Frans Bos.

As of late 2023, Brothers Beer regained control of the business. PWC's continued oversight aimed to ensure full creditor settlement within the next 12 months, marking a significant step toward financial stability. The brewery Mothership in Mount Eden and the beach-side haven in Piha has continued serving up delicious craft beer and authentic American BBQ that has defined Brothers Beer for over a decade.

"Brothers Beer has recognised the challenging landscape that many businesses face, and our hearts go out to those that have struggled or closed due to financial difficulties. Brothers Beer acknowledges the resilience of the wider business community and extends our empathy and support to all facing similar challenges."

The company has also extended its gratitude to the community for its unwavering support during the trying times, which the company said has been the pillar of its resilience. It has also expressed its deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff who have stood by the company through the challenging times.

As Brothers Beer anticipates a promising 2024, it has invited the community, friends, and supporters to join in celebrating what it does best; good beer for good people.
