Refresh for Starbucks’ Green Apron

USA | Starbucks will introduce a new look uniform to complement its iconic green apron from May in North America.

As Starbucks continues its pledge to create a warm, welcoming environment that will invite customers in, showcase its wide variety of coffee and beverages, and to provide a comfortable place to sit and stay, the global coffee chain’s green apron partners have played a big role in bringing it all to life, from writing on cups to free refills and the coffeehouse experience.

Starbucks said that its partners are the face of the brand, and the iconic green apron has always been a special part of what makes the coffee chain unique. Since 1987, the green apron has been the symbol for Starbucks Coffee Company, representing the hundreds of thousands of retail partners in North America who connect with customers every day.

Starting from mid-May, Starbucks will introduce a new look, including evolving its famous dress code in all North American stores in order to focus on simplified colour options that will allow the iconic green apron to shine and create a sense of familiarity for Starbucks customers, no matter which store they visit across North America.

The more defined colour palette will include any solid black short and long-sleeved crewneck, collared, or button-up shirts and any shade of khaki, black, or blue denim bottoms.

“We’re also making a new line of company branded t-shirts available to partners, who will receive two at no cost, including partner network options,” the company said in a statement.

“By updating our dress code, we can deliver a more consistent coffeehouse experience that will also bring simpler and clearer guidance to our partners, which means they can focus on what matters most, crafting great beverages and fostering connections with customers.”

This uniform change has occurred as the coffee chain’s CEO Brian Niccol toured global markets to connect with franchisees and experience the unique appeal of the brand. One notable trip was his recent venture to the Middle East with other members of the Starbucks leadership team.

Central to this regional vision in the Middle East was a strong and collaborative partnership with Alshaya Group,  which included plans to open 500 new stores and create 5,000 jobs over the next five years in the region.
