PRESTIGIOUS CULINARY AWARD LAUNCHED IN NZ

Extending its industry leadership in foodservice, Nestlé Professional is excited to be launching the prestigious Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award into New Zealand this year.

Two separate heats will be held, one in the South Island and one in the North Island, with the winning teams from both cook-offs going on to compete at the Grand Final at Fine Food in Melbourne, Australia.

Nestlé Professional Executive Chef Mark Clayton said, “We’re excited that the award will now include a trans-Tasman element. It will see us extend our goal to support even more chefs and elevate the competition to a new level.”

The 2020 winning team will be awarded a culinary prize trip to Europe to experience the best of what Spain and Switzerland have to offer.

“It’s about challenging yourself. Taking it to the next level and pushing yourself to see what you can do. You get to meet and connect with other chefs and really see what’s going on in the industry,” added Clayton.

Who can enter?

Apprentice and junior chefs, who are:

  • New Zealand or Australian residents
  • Aged from 16 and under 25 years on 30th September 2020
  • Working in the culinary industry (chef, cook, apprentice, culinary student)

Nestlé Professional Marketing Manager Andrew Madill commented, “With an industry presence spanning five decades, the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award exists to support young chefs and will offer our homegrown culinary talent an opportunity to learn new skills and be judged live on their cooking by world-class judges – not to mention the chance to compete and travel overseas.”
