To celebrate its 50th anniversary in New Zealand, Pizza Hut has re-introduced its iconic all-you-can-eat buffet for a limited time.
Pizza Hut New Zealand is reviving its iconic all-you-can-eat buffet for a unique four-day event to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The "Pop-up Hut" will offer unlimited pizza, a salad bar, soft drinks, and a dessert bar featuring soft-serve ice cream and toppings.
The pop-up celebration will be at the City Works Depot in central Auckland, with lunch and dinner sessions from September 26 to 29, 2024.
"We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 50th birthday and raise funds for our charity partner, Hato Hone St John, at the same time," said Restaurant Brands NZ Ltd CEO Arif Khan.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Hato Hone St John.
The first Pizza Hut in New Zealand opened in September 1974 in New Lynn, Auckland. Since then, the chain has expanded to 135 locations across the country.
"This milestone is a testament to our loyal customers and the Pizza Hut team members over the years - we're looking forward to celebrating with them," said Khan.
In addition to the pop-up event, Pizza Hut will introduce limited-edition retro products, including an Apple Crumble Pizza and other special offerings, available nationwide for a limited time.
Over the years, Pizza Hut has stayed committed to serving the best quality pizza in New Zealand, and is consistently looking at innovative new products to service New Zealand. They were the first pizza chain in New Zealand to launch home delivery with the 0800 83 83 83 jingle, they were the first to debut digital orders, and they have pioneered several new formats, including stuffed crust pizzas, Detroit style Pizza, and the family-sized Limo Pizza which comes in a one-metre box.
The last dine-in Pizza Hut restaurant in New Lynn closed in 2016 after 41 years of operation. Since that closure, the brand has received thousands of requests from fans demanding its return.
The chain, known for its buffet-style service, shifted away from this model in the 2010s but continues to innovate under Restaurant Brands, which also operates KFC, Carl's Jr., and Starbucks.
