Pita Pit Sees Chain of Store Closures Across New Zealand

Despite Pita Pit's recent series of outlet closures across the country, its management stated that they were committed to growing the fast food franchise.

A number of outlets in Auckland, including its Sylvia Park mall store, and Wellington, Christchurch, and Rotorua have recently shut their doors.

Other outlets, such at the Warkworth location, remain temporarily closed.

Chief executive of Pita Pit, Duane Dalton, said that many Pita Pit closures were due to stores coming to the end of their leases, the impact of Covid-19, staffing issues and the need for earthquake strengthening.

Reduced foot traffic has also been a challenge for the franchise.

"Unfortunately, we are not immune, however we have diversified through Covid, successfully resulting in some of best financial figures to date, but also saving the closures of more than 10 locations."

Looking forward, Pita Pit plans to re-open up to six more locations in the coming months.

A new app and loyalty programme will also be implemented later this year.
