Two of New Zealand's most well-known chefs, Peter Gordon and Lucas Parkinson, have collaborated for one night only.

Chef Lucas Parkinson, owner of Aryeh Piha is set to host one very special collaboration dinner this month, with the beloved godfather of fusion cuisine and acclaimed New Zealand chef, Peter Gordon.

This special evening will showcase a five-course menu crafted by the two chefs in what promises to be a fusion of flavours, creativity, and culinary excellence using the best of local ingredients.

Parkinson said he was deeply honoured to be working with such an incredible chef.

“We have been talking about this for more than a year, now the timing is right. Peter spends a lot of time in Piha and it’s awesome to offer this one-off opportunity to the locals and beyond,” said Parkinson.

“I grew up watching and being inspired by Peter, when people talk about the great Kiwi chefs, his is always the first name to pop up and I’m deeply honoured to share the kitchen with him on March 28”.

Peter Gordon first met Parkinson when dining at Aryeh, Piha.

“My first meal at Aryeh was fabulous and that’s when I first met Lucas. I had heard about him and his award-winning restaurant Ode in Wānaka and was excited that he’d relaunched in our magical Piha,” said Gordon.

“I’ve gotten to know him and his kai over many visits since and I’m happy to finally be cooking with him.”

For the entre, the collaboration will present a sesame roast kūmara, raw fish, nam jim, makrut coconut cream, sea grapes and puffed Aryeh grains. For the main course, Aryeh’s Grand Reserve Mapari ribeye will be on show, paired with five-hour cauliflower gravy, aged balsamic and two sides crafted by the two chefs.

For the grand finale, diners can expect a chocolate mousse, avocado sorbet, roasted Albany grapes and chillied honey taro crisps.
