Popular Ponsonby dining hotspot, Daphnes, has introduced its latest offering, Daphnes Morning Menu. Open for breakfast, Daphnes Morning Menu is a combination of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, available to order from dawn till dusk.
Daphnes has been the lastest installment of the impressive repertoire of Clare and Joost Van Den Berg, who are the visionaries behind Ponsonby's Zus and Zo, Takapuna's Zomer, and Central Auckland's Hugus Bistro and Odettes Eatery. Together, the pair said breakfast is ultimately where it begins for them.
"It provides a lot of nostalgia to us. We have had a lot of requests from our gorgeous customers to create this vibe again in Ponsonby, and what a great space we have to do that, so we thought, 'why not?'," said Van Den Berg.
Daphnes Morning Menu has consisted of vibrant flavours and simplicity. Under the guidance of the recently appointed executive chef, Alife Ingham, guests can expect an array of palate-pleasing creations. Dishes such as the egg and cheese milk bun, taramasalata on toast, grilled sirloin on toast and halloumi fritters grace the menu, all prepared in an innovative reinterpretation.
Van Den Berg said it was great to be able to work with Ingham again.
"We have the amazing Alfie Ingham back on board with us. We worked together at Hugo's, and we thought, let's create that magic again. Also, we are breakfast people. What is better than a great morning menu to start the day? We can't wait to welcome everyone back again for morning, noon and night."
Daphnes Morning Menu has ensured that younger diners are catered to with a range of options to suit their needs, such as a playful rendition of soft-boiled eggs and soldiers, the perennial favourite toasted brioche with chocolate sprinkles, and a fairy bread milkshake."
Daphnes Morning menu is available from Wednesday to Sunday.
