Meet The Barista | Juliette Milic, RH Cafe

The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown immediately followed Juliette Milic’s arrival in New Zealand in 2020. After a panicky job hunt and a few odd jobs, she walked into RH Freemans Bay and discovered her love for coffee and customer service.

Two years later, Milic is the cafe's head barista and assistant manager, also a training facility for Robert Harris, New Zealand. New franchisees often come to them as part of their training with all aspects of running a cafe.

Besides serving delicious coffee, the cafe is also known for its traditional bacon butty, which many customers love.

“Hospitality was in a bad place after COVID-19, so it presented a great challenge to get things up and running again. I also love making someone’s day slightly better by making them their favourite coffee,” said Milic.

According to Milic, depth of flavour is key in a great coffee. No one can hide in a double espresso, so high-quality beans are essential. She loves an oat milk flat white, just like most Aucklanders and enjoys discovering new parts of New Zealand, aiming to do two great walks this summer, the Tongariro Northern Circuit and the Kepler.
