The US restaurant industry is experiencing significant growth, expected to reach a value $863 billion by the end of 2019. The announcement comes as part of the annual State of the Restaurant Industry Report, run by the National Restaurant Association
“The restaurant industry is on a continued growth trajectory, driven by an expanding U.S. economy and positive consumer sentiment,” Dawn Sweeney, president and chief executive officer, National Restaurant Association, said in a statement. “2019 marks the Association’s centennial anniversary, and the comprehensive analysis contained in this report provides a firm foundation for restaurant owners and operators to make decisions about the future of their businesses.”
The report noted that delivery still has a way to go, although confirmed that the majority of business still comes from on-premise dining. It also highlighted the importance of embracing technology, with 80 percent of restaurant owners surveyed investing in new technology to stay competitive.
