The Roaming Giant and The Wayward Pigeon have been sold to Wellington Hospitality Group. This is the first time that the Wellington hospitality company have looked outside of the capital, snapping up two of Hamilton’s newest bars.
Joe Cottier, Head of Marketing for Wellington Hospitality Group, said that the group was looking to establish venues where people can enjoy beers with their mates, or take the family for a dinner or lunch. There are no significant plans to change either site.
John Lawrenson, Lawrenson Group founder, said that he hadn’t planned on selling, but the offer on the table was too good to turn down. He does not think that this will detract from the Hamilton hospitality scene.
Ownership will fall to Wellington Hospitality Group from May 13th onwards.
