Impossible Foods has bought its plant-based chicken nuggets to New Zealand restaurants for the first time. From mid-August, RE Burger stores will be serving up the golden chicken nuggets, with more restaurant partners in the pipeline to follow.
The Impossible Chicken Nuggets feature a crispy breadcrumb coating, whilst remaining juicy and deliciously savoury in the middle. Within each chicken nugget is over eight grams of protein per 70-gram serving, with 35 percent less fat than its animal counterpart.
Founder of RE Burger, Boris Reiber, said that putting Impossible Beef on the menu has been a big hit with RE Burger’s customers.
“RE Burger has a passionate student customer base, who are aware of the environmental impact of the food they eat, so having the option to serve Impossible Food products gives our customers a more diverse menu to enjoy,” said Reiber.
Reiber added that the new Impossible Chicken Nuggets will no doubt be a hit with Kiwis, and that they taste great, and are a healthier option.
Impossible Foods is based in the United States and is on a mission to provide healthier and more sustainable food products. Senior Vice President of International at Impossible Foods, Noel Clarke, said that Impossible Chicken Nuggets is a fan-favourite, and the company is excited to bring them to New Zealand restaurants for the first time.
“RE Burger was a natural partner for us, as they’ve been serving our Impossible Beef burgers for a while now with great feedback. We’re looking forward to offering New Zealanders even more Impossible options whilst dining out and making it easier to enjoy delicious meat from plants,” said Clarke.
Impossible Chicken Nuggets have been specifically designed for Chicken-lovers, whilst accounting for less of an environmental impact than other animal chicken nugget products.
This marks the second occasion that Impossible Foods has brought its products to RE Burger in New Zealand, the first being plant-based beef burgers.
To celebrate the occasion, 10,000 free Impossible Chicken Nuggets are to be made available to customers of RE Burger across the chain's North Island restaurant locations.
