Not many other foods bring back childhood memories of summer like ice cream on the beach. This summer, Emerald Foods has developed two new and exciting flavours to add to the Chateau ice cream range: Churro and Salted Caramel Crunch.

Churros has been in development for around six months and coincided with the sudden rise in popularity of the fried-dough snack. A traditional dessert in Portugal and Spain, the idea for Chateau’s Churro ice cream came about due to the increasing awareness of churros as a dessert item. Churros are normally served with chocolate or caramel sauce, along with a scoop of ice cream. The Churros ice cream manages to retain the characteristic crunch of freshly made churros, even when emulsified into ice cream. The cinnamon ripple is a technique that is also not widely used in ice cream.

Salted Caramel Crunch was an extension of the continued popularity of Salted Caramel in any form whether that be in confectionery, baked goods, dessert items, or ice cream. Salted Caramel in its unadulterated form is not as unique as the Churros ice cream, but the incorporation of crunchy toffee pieces is uncommon.
