FREE MEALS FOR STORM-AFFECTED

Following Auckland’s battering at the hands of a storm on Tuesday night, Indian restaurant chain Satya has offered free meals to those affected by the weather. Owners Roberto Giampaolo and Kamesh Kunala said that the offer could be redeemed at any one of their three Auckland locations.

"If you know people who have been affected by the power outages, please send them to any of the Satya South Indian Restaurants or Satya Chai Lounge tonight,” they said. “Of course we will never say no to sympathisers as well. So effectively all are welcome."

The pair said that the family values behind their business were the reason for the gesture.

“We will feed them and give them a hot drink on the house, no questions asked. We're spending all day preparing, and have brought in extra staff to handle the rush."

Satya has previously offered free meals on Christmas Day for those who have nowhere else to go.
