Dine & Debate: The Red Meat Issue

The issue of planetary health and the current levels of red meat consumption have been called into question following papers from the Eat-Lancet Commission, amongst others. Are they sustainable for our planet? Are we misguided in terms of human nutrition? What does this look like in a New Zealand context?

As an agrarian society, it is essential for us to be conscious of the impact that our diets and farming practices are having on the environment. An expert panel comprised of a range of industry leaders is inviting guests to dine and discuss these very topics. Facilitated by Niki Bezzant, writer, speaker, commentator and immediate past president of Food Writers NZ, the panel will play host to Jeremy Baker, chief insights officer at Beef + Lamb New Zealand, Angela Clifford, CEO of Eat New Zealand, Mike Boland, principal scientist at The Riddet Institute, Dr Denise Conroy, senior scientist at The New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research, and Dr Mark Craig, an Auckland-based GP who advocates a whole food, plant-based diet to reverse and prevent medical conditions.

Throughout the night, the significant issues facing the future of the red meat industry in New Zealand will be debated—openly and honestly.

The event is happening on Wednesday the 19th of June at 6:30 pm. To secure a ticket, please visit www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/dine-debate-the-red-meat-issue-tickets-62181250795, using the password RedMeatDinner.
