Bird on a Wire opens first store out of Auckland

Free-range chicken eatery Bird on a Wire, will open its first restaurant outside of Auckland at the much-anticipated new shopping centre, Tauranga Crossing on 4 April.

The new Bird on a Wire store is located in a prominent position in The Observatory, which makes up the upper level of the mall’s two-level dining area. Adjacent to the Event Cinemas complex, the restaurant is just around the corner from some of the country’s most popular retail brands, including H&M. The 180m2 Bird on a Wire has seating for 90 covers and will be open from 9am-10pm every day.

“We’re very excited to be opening the first Bird on a Wire outside of Auckland,” said Bird on a Wire general manager Kelly Bain. “Tauranga Crossing is a natural fit for us. There is a real focus on friends and family, which suits us down to the ground. We’re proud to be part of the dining experience being created in The Observatory. It’s fun, relaxed, vibrant and different to anything the region will have seen before. We can’t wait to get started.”

Bird on a Wire was started in 2012 by four friends with the aim of creating a delicious, healthy takeaway alternative, and to do so by capitalising on a category that was poorly served in New Zealand – chicken. The plan was to become everyone’s neighbourhood chicken shop and since then the brand has built up a loyal customer base and has grown steadily, with openings in Takapuna, Ponsonby Central and Orakei.
