Plant-based eatery, Gorilla Kitchen, has donated former Australian rugby player Israel Folao's bill payment to LGBTQ+ organisation, Rainbow Youth. The cheeky donation was revealed in a Facebook post by the eatery.
"We are proud to say that Israel Folau and his wife Maria Folau have inadvertently shown their support to Rainbow Youth," said Gorilla Kitchen. "We don't turn anyone away at Gorilla Kitchen, because we love everyone, not just animals. So, when Israel and Maria came in again a couple of weeks ago, we happily served them, hydrated them and fed them. What they didn't realise was their money spent at Gorilla Kitchen was going to be donated to Rainbow Youth, an organisation that embraces diversity and offers support for our young and vulnerable rainbow community."
Folao was dismissed by Rugby Australia in April due to his anti-gay remarks on social media. Last week, in a church sermon in Sydney, he claimed Australia’s bushfire crisis was caused by God's punishment for the country’s decision to pass abortion and same-sex marriage laws.
Gorilla Kitchen offers a wide range of 100 percent vegan menu options in its Symonds street location and is also available for catering for private retreats, festivals, University residential halls, private parties and dinners.
