The drinks are on Coca-Cola this summer

Coca-Cola’s Designated Driver programme has returned once again, rewarding those who take on the responsibility of sober driving with three free non-alcoholic drinks at participating bars and restaurants.

The Coca-Cola Designated Driver programme was launched in 2016 and has been gaining momentum year-on-year. Close to 400 bars and restaurants are participating this year throughout the country.

“People’s social calendars are particularly busy over the summer months, and we understand no one wants to miss out on the fun,” said Richard Schlasberg, Coca-Cola Oceania Country Manager. “We launched this programme to show gratitude to people who take on the responsibility of being the Designated Driver so their friends get home safely.”

The programme has received strong support from Auckland Transport. “Road safety is always a big concern for us, especially during the festive period when people are out and about enjoying the great hospitality Auckland has to offer,” said Auckland Transport community transport manager Claire Dixon. “Alcohol is a significant contributing factor to road crashes in the Auckland region and we are proud to support Coca-Cola with this important initiative to not only encourage people to be safe but to reward them for making smart choices this summer.”

To participate in the programme, designated drivers just need to TEXT ‘driver’ to 345. They will receive three mobile coupons that can be used to redeem complimentary Coca-Cola beverages at participating bars.
